Finally we played a game and it was called star wars. There were three people with hockey sticks in the middle guarding three balls. So we had to get the three balls without being hit.
It was fun and we know God wants us to be prepared.

Good job, Lucy! Covered everything we did in the children worship.
ReplyDeleteI only use Charles at my work, always use Zhaoyang at church. First time being called Uncle Charles, interesting.
In case you don't know, the warm up Lucy referred is the 广播体操 we always do between Sunday school class and Children worship. You know, our children worship is very energetic, we need some "warm up" before it starts :-) In this week's singing worship, kids are crazy about a simple song called I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N. If you never heard it before, have your child sing it for you. The song tells them being a CHRISTIAN is to have C-H-R-I-S-T in their H-E-A-R-T. Your kid will tell you why we put a dash between letters :-)
Today's bible story is from Matthew 25:1-13, the parable of the ten virgins. Jesus told us to be prepared for his coming, because no one when is the time and day for that. How can we be prepared? The answer is right in the song they sang is worship, that is, to have C-H-R-I-S-T in our H-E-A-R-T :-)
Being afraid of children won't really get about virgins/bridesmaid, groom and wedding stuff, we also retell the parable in a modern way that children may related well, that's the slideshow attached in Lucy's blog.
Since we are teaching them to be prepared, and we just had a terrible power outage due to an unexpected heavy snow, we thought a emergency fire drill would be a nice activity for them to be prepared for unexpected and reinforce the message we just delivered. What surprised us is that children are doing really well in the fire drill, I guess that is because they have many practices at their schools. I bet in our next church wide fire drill, children will be the first ones evacuating from the building :-)
Blessings,
Zhaoyang
