10/31 "Halloween" Night at CBCGN

Tonight is Halloween Night. In the past years, some families were busying Trick-or-Treating, and some others like us trying find a place to avoid Trick-or-Treating. But tonight, most of us are brought together in our church by this unexpected and unprecedented October snow storm in 2011.

Thank God, we now have our own church building, and even more to be thankful is that our church building had it's power back within a day after the snow storm ended. Not only it provides light, heat, running water, its internet also works! To most of us who are still battling in the dark and cold in the aftermath of storm, our church is like a HEAVEN!!!

Well, indeed, it is a HEAVEN because many ANGELS have prepared a nice, warm and delicious Chinese dinner for us:-) With a abundant banquet on one side, children running around, playing ball and games on the other side, and brothers and sisters talking and laughing, seniors watching and smiling, at that moment, I couldn't help but remembering the Shaker hymn, "Simple Gifts", we sang and danced with children a couple of weeks ago.

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come 'round right.

What a nice gift we all received at this "Halloween Night". Some of us, Sunday school teachers, are thinking, maybe this could be our new "Halloween" tradition, let's start to dream our next "Halloween" night at CBCGN...

Blessings,
Zhaoyang
