2/12 Follow the instructions - by David Wang

Today, during children worship time we first started with the new exercise that we’ve been doing for the last 4 weeks. Then we did an experiment of cleaning dirty pennies. First, teacher, Zhao Rou A-Yi, put a penny into a bowl with vinegar and it did an okay job. But she read the instructions again and noticed that she forgot to put salt with vinegar. After she added salt in, the penny started to get cleaner. And after a while it almost had no dirty marks on it. That experiment showed us why following instructions is so important.

Next we watched a video about Naaman. In this story there was a guy named Naaman who was the captain of the Syrian Army. The problem was that Naaman had a disease called “Leprosy”, which can’t be healed. A servant told Naaman’s wife that a guy named Elisha (who lived in Israel) could cure leprosy. The wife couldn’t believe what she heard so she went to tell Naaman. When Naaman saw his wife he wondered why she was so happy and she told him what the servant had said to her. Naaman asked the king if he knew where Elisha lived, but he didn’t. So he told Naaman to ask the king of Israel instead. When the king of Israel read the letter from Syrian king he got angry because he knew that he couldn’t cure leprosy. He was so angry that he started to rip off his shirt. A servant of him suggested him to send Naaman to Elisha. So Naaman and his soldiers went to Elisha’s house. When they saw it they got angry because the house looked like a house for a poor guy. Inside the house Elisha told his servant to tell Naaman to wash himself in the Jordan River seven times and his leprosy would be healed. When Naaman heard this he thought Elisha was making fun of him, but one of his servants convinced him to give it a try. The first 6 times he washed nothing happened, but when he came out the 7th time his leprosy had completely healed. When he realized he was healed, he praise and gave glory to God. This story taught us to always follow God’s instruction.

After the story we played a game of following instruction. We picked “goofy” instructions from a box and follow it. Some of the instructions were hard to act out, but others were easier. My instruction was to walk like an elephant. When we were done with this game, I helped collecting offering and did the closing prayer.

Before all this fun we had Sunday school class. During the class we learned a story about Ruth and Naomi. The story was about Naomi, who had a husband and two sons; later on her sons married Ruth and Orpah. But her sons died soon. Naomi heard that the lord had begun to provide food for his people. So she told her daughters in-law to go back to their home towns but they both said that they would come with her to Naomi’s homeland, Israel. Naomi tried to convince them that they should go back to their home towns and only Orpah did so. Naomi told Ruth that her sister had to go back to her home town. After, Ruth told Naomi that she would stay and be with her all the time so they both went to Bethlehem together.

Another thing about Sunday school I want to tell you about is the worksheet we did. In the worksheet we had to read 3 passages from the bible and answer the questions. There were 4 questions for each passage, 3 of them were multiple choices questions and the last one was why they followed God’s instructions.

The last thing I want to tell you about is the game we played. In the gamed one person was in the middle with their eyes closed and tried to guess who was saying “God” or “Jesus”. The other people would say “world” or “money”. It was really complicated because it was hard to hear who was saying “God” or “Jesus” when the other people were saying something else. Usually the person in the middle couldn’t guess right. Today was a really fun day and I hoped you enjoyed my blog.
