After this we continued to learn about Ruth. Before we started to read we did a crossword puzzle that had words from the book of Ruth. We read Ruth 4: 1-17. The story was about how Boaz married Ruth. Before Boaz married Ruth he talked to a Kinsman Redeemer and 10 elders. He told the Kinsman Redeemer that Naomi had come back from Moab, and was selling a piece of land that belonged to Eliemelech. Boaz thought he should bring the matter to the Kinsman Redeemer in front of all the elders so he could redeem it. The kinsman decided to redeem it but Boaz told him that on the day you buy the land you acquire the dead man’s widow in order to maintain the name of the dead. Since the kinsman heard this he said “I can’t redeem it or I’ll be endangering my own estate.” So Boaz decided to redeem it himself and told the elders why they were there. He acquired Ruth as his wife in order to maintain the name of the dead and said “Today you are witnessed!” The elders said the same thing and wished him to be famous in Bethlehem. So Boaz took Ruth as his wife and she gave birth to a son. God told Naomi that Ruth gave birth to a son, and named him Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse, and Jesse was the father of David. To have to say, I really don’t get what this story is really about.
After Sunday school we went into children worship. We first did the exercise then went into singing. We sung a new Chinese song, 在你宝座前, and other songs like “the perfect ten”, “This is my commandment”, and “You can trust Him”. While singing the new song we learned the movements and words. After singing we started to learn to love your neighbor as yourself. We first read the bible verses. In the bible verses this person went to Jesus and asked him “Teacher, what is the greatest law in the 10 commandments?” Jesus replied “Love the lord with all your heart, all your soul, and your entire mind.” Jesus also told the person that the second one is similar; love your neighbor as yourself. Then we talked about “Crystal’s class rules.”, and watched a video of sitting criss-cross applesauce which showed us a proper way to sit at school and church. Later, my dad discussed with us some real examples of us “not loving your neighbor as ourselves, taught us how to love your neighbor as yourself such as respecting others and regarding others’ needs and desires as highly as yourselves. At the end of Sunday school Jeffrey helped collecting offering and gave the closing prayer.
Today was really fun, and I hope you enjoy my blog.
