Today our sermon title is “The Whistle”. Today’s scripture is from the book of Matthew 16:26: “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange of his soul?”
Today we talked about a boy named Ben Franklin. Ben got some money from his friends. He used all of it to get a whistle from a person. He learned a lesson because he paid about four times as much as the whistle was worth. Then every time he saw a person that did something foolish, he said “you are paying too much for your whistle."
In this world, there are so many “whistles” around us such as computer games, TV shows, junk food, and so on. We pay too much cost for having them and staying with them. This lesson reminds us that we should not spend too much time and money on these things.
Today we also had a send off party for the sixth graders that are going up to the youth group. They are Michael, Mona, and Melody. Ginger A-yi prepared the yummy snack for us. Thank You Ginger A-yi, we had fun!

It is great to see that our children actually remembered the story taught on Sunday. Hopefully they also understood the point behind the story, we need to make a wise choice for everything we do. What is that wise choice, we all have a lot to learn from the Bible :-)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to test if the young kids paid attention in the class, I asked a parent to ask her kindergartner son, "who is on the 100 dollar bill?". The boy answered "some guy named Ben." ^_^ I told you, it is fun to deal with these kids.
