12/11 Symbols of Christmas - by Timothy Yang

Today when we got to church, we watched Leanne light the 3rd candle since today is the third Advent Sunday. Then we went up stairs and the first thing we did was reading Matthew 1:18-Matthew 2. After the story, Uncle Ma told us that we had to make a picture with the words compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. For example if you did kindness, you have to draw a person being kind. Our bible verse is from Colossians 3:12(Therefore as Gods chosen people, holy and dearly love, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.)

After our Sunday school, we started with an exercise (广播体操 ) , then we sang four songs: The First Noel, Angels We Have Heard on High, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and Oh come all Ye Faithful. David and Jeffrey were the pianists; David played Angels We Have Heard on High, and Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Jeffrey played Oh come all Ye Faithful. We listened to The First Noel.

The Sermon title was The 12 Christmas Symbols. Zhaoyang shu-shu showed us slides and explained the 12 symbols of Christmas which are EVER GREEN TREE, COOKIES, ORNAMENTS, WREATH, BELL, PRESENTS, BOWS & RIBBONS, HOLLY, CANDLE, ANGELS, and the CANDY CANE. Then Zhaoyang shu-shu told us to get in groups of two and gave us directions to do this activity. Each group drew a symbol and presented it in front of the class. The last thing we did was offering and praying for today’s class.

Today I learned so much about the 12 symbols of Christmas! THANK YOU, Zhaoyang shu-shu for your great teaching. Now I understand all the symbols are related to Jesus. Yes, let’s remember Jesus is the reason for the season! We can’t celebrate Christmas without Jesus!
