Tonight we went to church to celebrate Christmas Eve. Our childrens’ Christmas Pageant was also held there. First the youth group band played some Christmas carols such as “Angels we have heard on High” and “O Come All Ye Faithful”. After that, all the children in Kindergarten-5th went on stage to begin the pageant. First, Kendle Lam, the greeter, went in front and greeted the audience. Then, narrators David Wang and Felix Yang came up and talked about a baby being born in the time of Jesus’ birth. After they were done their lines, they exited the stage and joined the children. Then, Emily Guo led everyone to sing “The First Noel”. Christopher He and Sarah Yi played string instruments also. When the song was over, all the children went upstairs in the childrens’ chapel to continue the pageant while the adults listened to sermons. The narrators started talking about Jesus’ birth. They went off the stage and soon after the innkeeper, who is Jeanie, went on the stage. While she was talking, the fourth graders went on stage in the background and pretended they were employees that were working for the innkeeper. Kendle started playing the piano and all the fourth graders stopped and started singing a Christmas song, to the tune of “This Little Light of Mine”. When the first part of the song was over, Kendle stopped playing and the fourth graders started working again while Jeanie talked. Again, the piano player Kendle started playing, and the fourth graders stood up and started singing the second part of the song. They all started working again with Jeanie talking. Then they sang the third part, and walked off the stage followed by narrators talking again. After that, a tiny shepherd went on stage and pretended to be sleeping, then woke up because of the huge bright star that brought the wise men to baby Jesus. Crystal, the tiny shepherd, sang a solo, to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. Then all the kindergarteners and grades 1 and 2 sang another song also to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. After that, the 2nd and 3rd graders sang “Joy to the World” with Timothy playing the piano. The narrators talked again and then David played “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” with everybody. Then I played “O Come All Ye Faithful” with everybody singing also. After the Christmas Pageant, we started the movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” but never finished it. We all went downstairs and each got a lit candle for the song “Silent Night”. We walked in a line and slowly went in front of all the parents. Pastor Lee led everyone to sing “Silent Night”. The parents and adults also had candles and were lit by one person starting and slowly passing the light onto the next person. Soon all the candles were lit and everyone was singing. At the end, we all blew out our candles and there was a huge table with food set up. Everyone in the church went to munch on something, including the adults. Everything was so delicious! Many people were giving presents and cards to one another. It was a great night!
I like the fun night.
