12/18 Christmas Wouldn't be the Same Without Jesus - by Sarah Yi

Today was the fourth day of the Advent wreath. Ashley O' Young lit the candles today. In the children's worship group our topic was The Journey to Bethlehem. Ji-xia shu shu led us to read a story (Luke 2:1-20) about how Mary and Joseph made a journey to Bethlehem to give birth to baby Jesus.. We learned that Christmas wouldn't be the same without Jesus. Our memory verse today was also in Luke 2:14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace to men whom his favors rests.". The kids did a worksheet on how they compared to Jesus when they were born. for example: The city I was born in was... Jesus: Bethlehem, Me: Nashua. Lots of kids were born from all over the world.

Next we had to worship. This week we didn't have to do the exercises since everyone was so tired and bored. We sang the songs Amazing Grace which was played by Crystal on the piano; The First Noel, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, and Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Then we watched a video called The Christmas Story on how Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem and gave birth to baby Jesus. Our activity today was part review from last week and part arts and crafts. We each had a few small pieces of paper and decorated Christmas symbols on them. They were for the Christmas tree ZhaoYang shu shu set up. We were also suppose to write how it related to the birth of Jesus, but most of the kids forgot that, even me. While we were making the ornaments/crafts, Zhao Rou A-Yi helped collect the tree fund. The bad news was that the money she collected only made up less than one third of the tree:(. After, we decorated the tree with our crafts.

Later we had pizza for lunch and some of us had Chinese school, but I didn't. Today we had lots of fun. We can't wait till next week...MERRY CHRISTMAS!
