Today, we talked about another new beginning. It is better than the beginning of a new year -- it is the beginning of a new life, a new life in Jesus. The scripture we learned is Mark 1:4-5, John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. From there we discussed with children the meaning of baptism, a symbol of a new life in Jesus. When we are baptized, it is a picture of what Jesus has done for us. He died, was buried, and rose again to wash away our sin and give us a new life in him.
In the activity time, we taught children some hand signs (since we are talking about baptism is a symbol/sign of new life). I am truly amazed how fast children learned and remembered all these following hand signs,
Pray, Worship, God, Christ, Jesus, Church, Temple, Angel, Devil, Priest, Nun, Preacher, Hallelujah, Commandments, Sin, Hell, Heaven, Cross, Spirit, Bible, Holy, Peach, Bless, Alter, Fast.
Pray, Worship, God, Christ, Jesus, Church, Temple, Angel, Devil, Priest, Nun, Preacher, Hallelujah, Commandments, Sin, Hell, Heaven, Cross, Spirit, Bible, Holy, Peach, Bless, Alter, Fast.
The funny thing is the only sign children had trouble to remember is Worship, considering that we are worshiping every week :)
